EMERGENCY CARE
We provide emergency care 24/7!
Emergencies
If your pet requires emergency medical attention during practice opening hours please call one of our surgeries and we will help you.
If you find yourself in an emergency situation outwith these times please contact our partners Vets Now or Emergency Vets Glasgow. They are the pet equivalent to A&E and offer emergency care when we are closed.
Overnight Care Provision
As our team are not here 24 hours a day, we do not keep patients overnight as this could compromise their welfare. Any pets requiring overnight care will be transferred to either Vets Now or Emergency Vets Glasgow who have dedicated overnight teams.
Our out of hours partners provide overnight primary care for patient stabilisation and acute care, including analgesia. Their overnight team will look after your pet until the morning when they will either be discharged to you or you will bring them to us for follow-up care.
Details of the out of hours care available is outlined by each provider, please see their websites or contact them for more detailed information.
Transfer of your pet is made by you as the owner, enabling you to discuss and agree to the care they are going to receive and the costs involved.
If a patient has complex medical needs we will ensure that welfare needs are met. If your pet requires veterinary supervision during transfer (eg oxygen therapy), Real Vets will arrange to transfer your pet, if appropriate, to one of our OOH providers and meet you there. This can only be implemented if advised by a veterinary surgeon. Once transferred, your pet is the responsibility of the out of hours team.
